At Last Progress
Dec 21 - Jan 24th, processing for the 129f K-1 processing at California - October 18th

Progress at last. At this rate it may be to the Consulate sometime in April. Next update in a couple of weeks so we will find out if they maintain this pace of progress or if we go another three updates with no news.
In other news we have decided to have our Wedding Ceremony overseas. However due to the nature of the k1 (that she has to be single when entering on it) The ceremony we have will not be a legally recognized marriage. We will still have to make a courthouse trip once she is in the country.
Why you ask? Quite a few reasons, some due to the process some due to personal choices. We decided on the K1 because the process is faster. But turns out we want to hold the ceremony there. If we back out and make it a legal ceremony over there and then go 130 that means restarting the paperwork after the wedding. So we decided to just hold a non legaly recognised wedding which as far as the state is concerned is just a gathering of family and friends. Lets us have the ceremony and cake deal on the Brides home turf as is more tradditional, give my side plenty of heads up to make travel arrangements, and if worst comes to worst and the visa isn't ready by then it will only affect us and not everyone else. In other words if the visa isn't ready and we can't come home together then I come home alone to finish waiting for it to complete. If we planned on the same here and the visa wasn't ready then she would be unable to get into the country. Big problem that is. It basicly means you have to try and plan a wedding with a somewhat flexible date. And let me tell you, no wedding works well on a flexible date basis, especially one which involves a fair amount of international travel.
The other thing I have now realized as odd about this whole thing. If you go 130 and get married abroad then there is no way you and your spouse can come to the US together after your wedding unless you are in a position to remain outside of the US for the duration of the paperwork process (6-9 months for 130 paperwork). If its someone trying a sham fine. But for a legitimate couple THAT AIN'T RIGHT.
